Almost 500 people died in traffic accidents in Serbia in 2020

A statement said that Minister Aleksandar Vulin was told by the top Traffic Police officers that 481 people died in traffic accidents by December 27. It said that there were 12.79 percent fewer traffic accidents compared to 2019 and added that the police registered some 900,000 traffic violations.

Vulin is quoted as saying that the police would step up its presence on New Year’s eve to make sure the public observes the epidemiological measures introduced by the authorities. “The public health is in first place. Let’s be responsible. Usher in the New Year at home with your families,” the minister said, adding that the public should not use fireworks or drive under the influence.
