1,700 observers for Belgrade city elections

More than 1,700 observers have been registered for the June 2 local elections in Belgrade, the head of the city election commission (GIK) said.

GIK Chairman Zoran Lukic said that 1,581 domestic and 156 foreign observers were registered to monitor the vote for the Belgrade City Assembly and municipal assemblies.

The city administration’s Beoinfo portal quoted Lukic as saying that GIK cooperation with the observers has been good and efficient so far.

Beoinfo said that domestic observers include the CRTA and CeSID election watchdogs, YUKOM and Go-Start coalition with foreign observers including OEBS/ODIHR, IFES, the EU Delegation in Serbia, IREX, and the embassies of the United States, Netherlands, Slovakia and United Kingdom.
