26 individuals questioned over Novi Sad tragedy

In connection with the tragic incident that occurred on November 1 in Novi Sad, when part of the Novi Sad Railway Station collapsed, the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad announced that 26 individuals were questioned on Saturday. Among those questioned were the Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure, the director of the City of Novi Sad's Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, as well as responsible individuals from "Serbian Railways" AD, "Infrastructure Railways of Serbia" AD, and those responsible for carrying out the works. According to the statement, documentation from the Ministry of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure has been seized and will be handed over to experts for further action. Today, questioning of 14 more individuals has been ordered.

„Further intensive work continues to determine all significant elements of the criminal offenses and the criminal responsibility of individuals, about which the public will be timely informed,“ they stated.

As a reminder, on Friday, the canopy at the entrance to the Novi Sad Railway Station collapsed, killing 14 people, while three injured individuals remain in serious condition.

The Novi Sad Railway Station was renovated twice in the past four years. The first renovation took place between 2021 and 2022, and after a few months, additional works began on the same building. The station was officially reopened on July 5 this year.
