Milorad Dodik, president of of Serb entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina said on Friday (March 16) that if there was a referendum today, majority of Serbs in Republika Srpska (RS) would vote to join Serbia.

I don’t hide that and I think that is quite natural that that political nature will prevail eventually. That cannot be stopped, as it has been, because it used to be a taboo“,Dodik said.

He reiterated that Bosnia and Herzegovina has been imposed on the Serbs as a must by the international factors who want to prove that BiH is a state while RS is not. Both Dayton Agreement and the Constitution stipulate that BiH consists of two entities and three nations which are sovereign in deciding at common level, Dodik said.

Our starting point is that RS by definition has all elements of a statehood – territory, people and authority. And that exists in RS only, while in BiH nothing really functions. Foreigners have been torturing us, manipulating with alleged compromise within BiH for the last 25 years. That is a problem which is preventing BiH to survive,” Dodik added.

He said that both Serb national politics and ideas were a failure since they were sacrificed to the two Yugoslav states and thus the Serbs should never enter any multi-ethniccommunity again. Dodik added that BiH was banged up on an unsustainable basis and that, if it was left on its own, “it would not last for more than 24 hours”.
