Storms with heavy rain and strong winds struck parts of western and southern Serbia on Sunday April 1
Strong winds hit parts of western Serbia over the weekend (March 31-April 1) tearing tiles from roofs, toppling trees and power line leaving some areas without electricity.
No injuries were reported.
Several houses lost their roofs in the town of Novi Pazar when winds of up to 120 kilometers an hour tore through the town and outlying areas over a two-hour period. The town of Bajina Basta was also hit by the storm winds which toppled trees, tore off roofs and destroyed building facades.
The bad weather was not limited to western Serbia but brought heavy rain and hail to the southern city of Nis in a storm that lasted just under an hour. Nis was the warmest area of Serbia on Sunday morning (April 1) hours before the afternoon thunderstorm which flooded some streets.
