The Kosovo issue is separate from Serbia's path to the European Union, PM Brnabić says

The Kosovo issue can’t stop Serbia on its road to the European Union because Belgrade-Pristina relations are a separate question, Prime Minister Ana Brnabić told the Thursday (April 5) issue of Novi Magazin weekly.

“I believe a long-term sustainable solution is primarily in Serbia’s interest, not the EU’s,” she said.   Brnabic voiced great concern over the very difficult attempts to achieve peace and stability in Kosovo. “I am very concerned because the story here is one-sided. Serbia is the only on investing an effort and it seems at this moment the only one with an interest in long-term peace and stability,” she said, adding that a frozen conflict would not be a good solution for Serbia.

Brnabić expressed regret that the European Union is not insisting on the implementation of the Brussels Agreement reached by Belgrade and Pristina which includes the forming of the Community of Serb Municipalities. She also feels that the US is not prepared to support any flexible solution and seems to be in favor of a status quo and frozen conflict.
