State Department official Palmer in separate meetings with President Vučić and PM Brnabić
US State Department official Matthew Palmer had separate meetings in Belgrade with President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Ana Brnabic on Thursday (April 5).
Palmer, the State Department Director for South Central European Affairs, discussed the situation in Kosovo and the rest of the Western Balkans in both meetings and said the stability of the region is the primary interest of the US.
The President’s cabinet said they agreed that normalizing Belgrade-Pristina relations and maintaining good neighbour relations are crucial to the European integration process and regional stability and prosperity, adding that Palmer promised continued US support.
Brnabić voiced a strong protest over the recent arrest of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo chief Marko Djuric in Kosovo and said Serbia expects the international community to condemn the violence by the Kosovo security forces. Palmer said the only way to find a constructive solution is through the implementation of agreements and dialogue.
The State Department official said Washington and Belgrade have the same vision of a stable and prosperous Serbia in the EU.
