EU gives Pristina deadline to form Community of Serb Municipalities
The four month deadline given to Pristina by the European Union to form the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM) could mean more pressure or a fresh delay.
“This is not about the EU pressuring someone or not, or some ultimatum but about whether the Brussels Agreement will be met. That agreement says everything clearly and this is just another attempt to stall. I am not overly optmistic, I do not expect them to do in the next four months what they haven’t done in almost five years but I do expect attention to be drawn to the fact that some of the Brussels Agreement has not been implemented yet,” Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin said.
The Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo has set up a counter which shows that more than 1,800 days have passed since the Brussels Agreement was signed by officials from Belgrade and Pristina meeting under EU auspices in Brussels.
Washington also supports the Brussels dialogue and the need to implement everything that has been agreed, State Department Director for South Central European Affairs Matthew Palmer told Albanian and Serb officials in Pristina.
