Serbia’s National Bank (NBS) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) representatives started a new round of talks on Monday to agree on future cooperation, a Bank statement said.

It added the IMF delegation, headed by James Roaf, will be on an official visit to Belgrade from 7th to 18th May, to asses the current macroeconomic progress and projections.

“The dialogue of the two parties will continue following the last mission’s visit to Belgrade in March, as well as during the spring meeting of the IMF and the World Bank Group (WBG) in Washington,” the NBS’ statement added.

The last three-year IMF deal with Serbia ended in February. The country did not use the allowed loan of 1.2 billion Euros enabled by a stand-by arrangement.

The agenda of the new dialogue will include the economic programme’s outlines supported by the IMF new non-financial, advisory arrangement with Serbia.

The new deal aim at preserving of the current macroeconomic and fiscal stability and supporting the continuation of necessary structural reforms in order to have stronger sustainable growth, the Bank’s statement said.
