The report, drawn up by the IPU and UNDP, recognizes the fact that the Serbian Parliament enjoys a high level of public trust and is praised for introducing public hearings and including the public in its work, Gojkovic said.

The report also notes that Serbian MPs are organized into six informal groups regardless of party affiliation and are committed to tackling issues of interest to the population which has raised the percentage of the population who trust parliament from 24 percent in 2015 to 29 percent in 2017.

Baron said that the IPU believes in strong parliaments and MPs as the only way to reinforce democracy. She said populations across the world expect their MPs to make sure the interests of the citizens are met, adding that the monitoring of parliament is one way to ensure that this happens.
