The leader of the United Pensioners' Party and Minister of Regional Development Milan Krkobabic said there are indications that pensioners would begin to receive increased pensions in November or January when the Pension Reduction Law gets abolished.
"We have indications that this will be done either in November or January. If the state of finances allows it, it will be in November. I expect concrete things now because these are only general announcements," Krkobabic told RTS.
He said that it is necessary to reform the pension and disability insurance so that the 2014 crisis would not happen again.
"The number of pensioners is increasing, and the number of working people is decreasing, it is necessary to begin a serious reform," said Krkobabic, adding that only the most competent people must work on this.
The Serbian Government announced Friday that it would adopt a proposal to abolish the said Law at the end of this year and thus lift the pension reduction measures from 2014. According to Government announcements, pensions will be increased from eight to 13 percent.
