The Serbian Oil Industry (NIS) said on Monday that it had invested more than 3 billion Dinars (about 25 million Euro) into socially responsible projects, the Beta news agency reported.
NIS invested more than 600 million Dinars (about 5 million Euro) into projects in education and science.
“To NIS, Investing in people is one of the most important pillars of sustainable development. Investing in young people and knowledge is an investment which always pays off because these are talented, young people who are motivated and directed towards change, development and innovation and who contribute to modernization as the key to maintaining the competitiveness of the company,” NIS CEO Kiril Tyurdenjev told a presentation of the NIS report on sustainable development 2017.
The principles of sustainable development are part of every process in NIS, he said.
The report said that NIS reported net profits of 27 billion Dinars (around 230 million Euro) which is 80 percent more than a year earlier and invested 26.5 billion Dinars in developing the company, making it one of the top domestic investors.
