The Serbian Parliament will hold a special session on Tuesday, June 12 to debate the Serbian President’s proposal for the head of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS).

President Aleksandar Vucic nominated current NBS Governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic for another six year term in office. She came to the post in August 2012 from her position as deputy leader of Vucic’s ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). The Beta news agency said she gave up all party duties when she moved to the NBS in line with the law.

Zeljko Jovic has been nominated to become Vice-Governor after holding that post as acting vice-governor.

The special session of parliament has been called following a request signed by 158 of the total of 250 MPs. Besides the nominations for top NBS posts, the session will debate several draft laws, nominations for the Anti-Corruption Agency Board, proposals by the Ombudsman, Commissioner for public information and two journalists’ associations (UNS and NUNS).
