Liberia has announced that it is withdrawing its recognition of Kosovo, the Serbian Foreign Ministry has told N1, while Pristina's Foreign Minister has tweeted it has been false news spread by both Serbia's media and his Belgrade counterpart.

The Liberian Foreign Ministry said in its letter that the country had reconsidered its decision to recognise the independence of Kosovo.

“The Republic of Liberia annuls its letter of recognition of Kosovo. This decision remains in effect until the discussions and negotiations are completed under the European Union,” the letter said.

It recalled that Liberia recognised Kosovo because Belgrade “was not prepared to negotiate a solution with its southern province Kosovo, adding that a Belgrade-Pristina dialogue is underway.

However, Kosovo Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli denied the information, saying the Liberian government told him it was not true.

Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic told a news conference following a meeting with his Liberian counterpart Gbehzohngar Milton Findley that the African country’s decision to annul its recognition of Kosovo is a modest contribution to the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.
