Serbia and Iran signed a framework agreement on air traffic which renews direct flights between the two countries after a break of 27 years, the Serbian government said on Thursday.
The agreement was signed by Serbian Construction, Traffic and Infrastructure Minister Zorana Mihajlovic and Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari during the 15th session of the Mixed Serbia-Iran Trade Commission.
“Serbia is a country working on links and when a country is not physically close there is nothing more important than air traffic. We have signed a new, modern agreement on air traffic which will be the framework for traffic and direct flights between the two countries which have been resumed after 27 years as well as for commercial cooperation between Air Serbia and Iran Air,” Mihajlovic said, adding that good traffic links are the basis to promote relations in all other areas.
