Serbia’s Justice Minister said on Wednesday Belgrade was obliged to fully adjust the constitutional amendments to the Venice Commission's suggestions, an agency reported.

In a meeting with Sem Fabrizi, the head of the European Union Delegation to Serbia, Nela Kuburovic promised her Ministry would revise the draft of the amendments according to what the Venice Commission had suggested, the FoNet news agency said.

In its latest report, the Commission had many objections to the constitutional amendments Belgrade had drafted and suggested its adjustments to the EU rules.

She added that the revised Action Plan for the EU accession talks’ chapter 23 dealing with the judiciary and fundamental rights, would be finished by the end of the year.

Fabrizi said that the EU had invested over 85 million Euros so far in Serbia’s judicial system and that a two-million Euros worth IPA project has recently been activated to help the Justice Ministry capacity.

He added that every step forward in the chapters 23 and 24 (justice, freedom and security) meant an overall Serbia’s progress towards the EU.

Kuburovic said that Serbia’s priority was the fight against corruption and added the parliament would soon discuss a new law on lobbying, on the Agency against corruption, as well as a law on personal data protection.
