Brazil defeats Serbia, ending Balkan country’s dream

Brazil won over Serbia in Moscow on Wednesday 2-0, securing a place in the knock-out stages of the World Cup as Group E winners and sent the Balkan country home.

The five-time World Cup winners took the first-half lead and after dominating possession extended it in the 68th minute.

The win secured Brazil place as group leaders while Switzerland, who drew 2-2 with Costa Rica, finished second and will also progress to the last 16 of the tournament.
