Serbia will have no European prospects if the Kosovo conflict remains frozen, President Aleksandar Vucic warned on Tuesday.

“If the Kosovo conflict remains frozen you can be sure there will be no European prospects, you can be sure investments will drop,” Vucic told Serbian reporters after his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Serbia will have Macron’s support in finding a compromise solution for Kosovo, Vucic said, adding that he is hoping for the same from German Chancellor Angela Merkel. “In that case there is some hope,” he said.

Asked about Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj’s statement that war would ensue if Kosovo were divided, the Serbian President said he does not want to talk about war and added that Serbia will not flex its muscles.

“What will we flex our muscles with? With zero MiGs, two old helicopters, old rifles? And whose children should I send in? Today when we have more weapons, we aren’t flexing our muscles because we don’t have children to waste and the weapons are a deterent to any madman who thinks he can enslave Serbia,” the president said.

“I don’t like hearing the leaders of other nations talking of war. We don’t want war and will do everything to save our people and our country from any kind of conflict,” he said.

Asked to comment the singing of Ustashi (WW 2 Croatian fascist) songs at the celebration of Croatia’s second place at the football world championship in Zagreb, Vucic said he was not surprised but that his job is to maintain the best possible relations with Zagreb and will not say a single bad word against Croatia.
