
Serbia’s Trade Minister Rasim Ljajic on Thursday called for an urgent meeting with his regional counterparts to discuss the new customs duties imposed on fruit and vegetables by the Kosovo government.
Ljajic told the Beta news agency that he called for an urgent meeting with the trade ministers of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Macedonia and an urgent session of the of the Centrala European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) Committee, saying that the agreement had been broken by Pristina.
Kosovo’s Ministry of Trade and Industry imposed a 30 percent protective duty on some fruits and vegetables and corn.
“The temporary institutions in Kosovo have to say clearly whether they want to remain a part of CEFTA or not,” Ljajic said using the official term for the authorities in Pristina.
