Kosovo Serbs tell Palmer military not in their interest

A Serb List press release said that they told Palmer that the transformation of the Kosovo Security Forces into a military runs counter to the interests of the Kosovo Serbs.  

It added that the Serb List leaders believe that the problems facing Kosovo Serbs can only be resolved through the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and “fundamental respect for the needs of the Kosovo Serbs”.  

Palmer is quoted as saying that the Kosovo Serbs can defend their interests and improve their position only by taking part in decision making.  

Serb List representatives said earlier that they would not be taking part in the working group formed by the Kosovo parliament to work on a set of laws to transform the Security Forces into a military organization.
