Serbia’s Minister for European Integrations Jadranka Joksimovic said on Monday she expected Belgrade to open three new chapters in its accession negotiations with the European Union by the end of the year, adding that all seven chapters her country had prepared would soon be before the EU, the FoNet news agency reported.

“We believe that based on concrete and visible steps forward concerning the action plans and reforms there will be enough quality material for opening a significant package by the end of December,” Joksimovic told the 9th meeting of the Serbian Parliamentary Commission for Stabilisation and Accession European Union – Serbia.

Last week, Budapest invited Belgrade to open all seven chapters it was ready for in negotiations with the EU.

But, after meeting Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, Joksimovic said Belgrade could hope to open three to four chapters by the end of 2018, having in mind the current atmosphere in the EU which did not incline to the enlargement.
