Serbia has to wake up, PM Brnabic says

“I keep telling everyone to wake up. This is our time and if we miss this opportunity we will have to wait for a long time to get another,” she said before taking part in a business forum organized by the Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper in Berlin.  

Serbia was not among the winners in the third industrial revolution which brought automatization to factories and should fight to be among the winners of the fourth industrial revolution which is bringing a digitalized, networked economy, she told the German daily.  

“Serbia wants to be part of that, in the front ranks, even though the country only launched digitalization a few years ago. That would help us achieve our main strategic goal of membership in the European Union,” she said.  

Sueddeutsche Zeitung said that Brnabic wants to turn Serbia into a modern country which would be a kind of digital hub for the Balkans.
