Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday he had information that Pristina’s police and special forces were heading toward the north of Kosovo, mostly populated by the Serbs, and that they were allegedly stopped by KFOR, N1 reported.
We have information that KFOR was prepared to stop someone’s madness and our thanks to them if that is true, he said at the end of the open portion of his meeting with Kosovo Serbs.
Speaking ahead the meeting which was called following Pristina’s decision to raise import taxes on goods from Serbia, Vucic added there were two possibility for the troops’ movement.
“They took the speedboat used by (Kosovo’s President Hashim) Thaci during his visit to the (contested) Gazivode lake. It’s possible they either control the lake to flex their muscles or control the ‘green crossing’ to prevent the goods from Serbia crossing over to Kosovo,” Vucic said.
He added Belgrade would continue to monitor the situation.
Commenting on Kosovo’s Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj statement that Pristina would not revoke the decision on customs duties until Serbia recognises Kosovo’s independence, Vucic said the statement put Serbia into “a horrific situation.”
He added Belgrade should be ready for a long and fierce battle “because we won’t recognise their independence.”
