Serbia’s President told the head of the European Union delegation in Belgrade he expected the bloc to putt more efforts to "to make Pristina withdraw unilateral move which imperils peace and stability in the region and risks the escalation of the conflict,” the Beta news agency reported.
In a meeting with Sem Fabrizi, Aleksandar Vucic warned of the consequences that might follow “the irresponsible” Kosovo’s decision to introduce the 100 percent import taxes on goods from Serbia and Bosnia in violation of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), a statement from Vucic’s office said.
The statement quoted him as saying Serbia would continue to intensively work on implementing the European agenda, aiming at faster progress towards the EU full membership.
According to the statement, Fabrizi brought to mind the EU diplomacy chief Federica Mogherini’s stand that the tariffs violated both both CEFTA and Stabilisation and Association agreements and her call on Pristina to revoke the decision.
Fabrizi also stressed the need to preserve peace and stability in the region, adding the problems should be solved peacefully and rationally through the EU facilitated dialogue.
