The authorities in Pristina took the first delivery of Humvee armored vehicles for its future armed forces, the Kosovo state TV (RTK) reported on Monday.

The 24 Humvees are the first of a total of 51 of the vehicles whose purchase was contracted with the US supplier in July 2018.

The vehicles were handed over to the Kosovo Security Forces at a ceremony in their barracks with high-ranking local officials and US embassy staff present.

The Kosovo parliament is expected to adopt a decision to transform the security forces into a military force on December 14. Parliament speaker Kadri Veseli is on a visit to the United States just prior to that session of parliament.
