Serbia's opposition: No ballot without changes in rules and media freedom

Nebojsa Zelenovic said President Aleksandar Vucic could only think about an early election as an answer to people’s protest in Belgrade.

As some media reported, Vucic was considering calling an early vote.

Next general elections are scheduled in 2020.

“Since Vucic came to power, the elections are not an expression of people’s democratic will. For the dictator they became the way of ruling Serbia – when you don’t know what to do, when poverty and the absence of freedom back you into a corner, you call elections,” Zelenovic said in a statement.

He added Serbia did not want to live in (election) “campaigns, lies and frauds between the ballots.”

“While making promises around the world about solving Kosovo, preserving peace and stability, he (Vucic) cemented the power by many illegal means, and thinks he can deceive people in Serbia and partners abroad with such election rules and control over money and media,” Zelenovic said.
