The Serbian defence industry has reported exports worth more than 600 million Dollars this year, Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin said on Wednesday.
A ministry press release quoted him as saying that this year’s defence industry exports are 10 percent higher than the previous year’s and four times higher than in 2012.
Vulin’s statement came during a visit to the Zastava Firearms plant in Kragujevac where he and his State Secretary Bojan Jocic met with management and union leaders.
Vulin said that the government will continue investing in new technologies. “The 9.5 million Euros given to Zastava Firearms was spent in the best possible way – new machines were bought and new technology secured. The entire defence industry has to invest in new technologies. What we have now is not enough to compete on the world market and what Zastava did along with other Serbian defence industry factories is the right way,” he said.
