Christmas eve and morning services were cancelled at the St Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in the Dutch town of Nijmegen because of a possible security threat, the local police said.

The police statement did not provide any details about the nature of the threat.

Parish secretary Goran Savic told a local radio station that both the evening and morning services had been cancelled. He added that he had not been told why the church was targetted.

The St Sava parish authorities said on their web site that the Christmas services had been moved to a the Serbian Orthodox Church St Elias monastery in nearby Sint Hubert.
