The Serbian Internal Affairs Ministry (MUP) said on Monday that top-level security measures would be in place during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Belgrade on January 17.
The measures would include re-routing traffic and the closure of some streets in the Serbian capital. Belgrade city Traffic Police Department chief Dragan Bogosavac said the roads through which Putin would be driven would be closed as well as nearby roads. “A ban on parking on those roads will also be in place,” he said. According to Bogosavac, the traffic police will do its best to resume traffic as soon as possible.
The head of the MUP security department for foreign delegations Slavisa Krstic said that “special physical and technical security measures will be in place along the routes taken by the delegation and around the buildings they visit”.
“The ministry will undertake complex security measures during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit. The measures will be implemented by the Security department along with other MUP units and state bodies,” he said.
