Russian real estate investment to be discussed during Putin visit to Serbia

Belgrade daily Politika said on Wednesday that the construction of a business centre by a Russian real estate investment company is one of the topics to be discussed during President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Serbia on January 17.

The daily was told by sources in the city administration that the Russian Marera Properties wants to build the business centre on the opposite bank of the Sava river from the Belgrade Waterfront project.  

The sources said the building could become the headquarters for Serbian government and Belgrade city assembly bodies.  

The Marera Properties company said it already owns some land on the New Belgrade side wants to build a 350,000 square metre building to “house businesses from all over this part of Europe”.  

Politika said that the Russian company has been present in Serbia for a number of years, adding that the planned construction in New Belgrade will be their first greenfield investment. The company focused on restoring and renting older business buildings in central Belgrade to date.
