Serbian Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic said on Wednesday that her Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) is considering early parliamentary elections since most party members want them.

Gojkovic, who is a member of the SNS presidency, said that a decision on elections will be taken based on circumstances. “We will see. We will have a presidency meeting and a party steering committee meeting afterwards. There are many circumstances that will decide in favour of Serbia and not to the benefit of one political party,” she told the pro-government TV Pink.

According to Gojkovic, the SNS enjoys great trust among the population even though it is criticized constantly for grabbing power and instilling banditry in the country.

She said the best thing would be to see what the voters think of the SNS and the opposition, and accused the Alliance for Serbia of promoting dangerous social values and behaviour. She said that women in the SNS who were exposed to insults like the ones by actor Sergej Trifunovic to journalists would no longer remain silent.
