Serbia will see heavy snowfall during the day, intensifying in the afternoon and overnight, the Republic Hydrometeorological Department (RHMZ) said on Friday.

The snow will intensify on Saturday across the country with the possible exception of northern Vojvodina with between 15 and 30 centimetres of new snow expected. Winds are expected to be moderate with temperatures not falling below freezing.
The snow has caused traffic problems in Belgrade and elsewhere but the Serbian capital’s Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic claimed on Friday morning that the city transport services were operating normally with no more than 20 minutes delay. He also claimed that just 2.5 percent of all city transport lines experienced serious problems a day earlier. “Everyone should take part in helping the city function normally given this much snow. Our job is to keep clear the 1,767 kilometres of city streets used by city transport,” Vesic said.
