Prosecutors ask for mayor to remain in detention over attack on journalist

Simonovic, from the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), denied any involvement in the attack but prosecutors asked for 30 days in detention arguing he might influence witnesses.
Simonovic was arrested on Friday, and Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic said he is suspected of having incited the attack.
The victim, Jovanovic, also said he believes that Simonovic was the person who ordered it in revenge for the articles he had written about him.
Three persons who have allegedly executed, helped and organised the crime have previously been arrested.
