Kosovo police arrested Zoran Djakic, a Serb displaced from western Kosovo town of Pec, on suspicion of being responsible for alleged war crime, Serbia’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija said on Saturday.

The police arrested Djakic on Friday evening at the Jarinje border crossing, where he was first kept for two hours and then sent to Pec, under the armed escort. His 12-year-old child witnessed everything.

Serbian Government’s Kosovo Office provided a lawyer to defend Djokic and will maintain the contact with his family. “This event is yet another confirmation that Pristina does not give up on the campaign to intimidate the Serb people by abusing so-called classified list of suspects for war crimes,” the Office said.

The Serb minority political party in Kosovo, the Serb List, assessed the arrest of Djokic as a “continuation of pressure on the Serbs in Kosovo,” the region that declared independence from Serbia in 2008 but which Serbia still disputes.

They urged the international institutions in Kosovo to react and warn the Kosovo Albanians to stop with provocations.
