Minister Zoran Djordjevic is quoted as saying at the opening ceremony that the shelter will provide “the most adequate protection and good living conditions” for victims of human trafficking.

„We want to help victims of trafficking move on and let them know that their state is caring for them,“ he said.

US Ambassador Kyle Scott told the opening ceremony that the fight against trafficking is one the most difficult problems in the world. He said that struggle is a priority for the US embassy and his country‘s foreign policy, adding that the US provides financial support to NGOs combatting the problem. The ambassador voiced the conviction that the shelter will be a very important place for people who have suffered this form of violence, the statement said.
