High school students in Serbia will attend basic national defence classes in the second semester of this school year, Politika daily said on Wednesday.
The Belgrade newspaper said that senior year students will have four classes to give them basic information about the military and national defence with possible visits to army barracks. Those classes will not be mandatory and will not affect final grades.
High school students in the former Yugoslavia had regular national defence classes at which they were taught some basic military skills, reaction to attacks with weapons of mass destruction, and first aid.
The new classes were proposed by the Defence Ministry.
