Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic told the EU High Representative and the mediator in the Belgrade – Pristina dialogue on normalisation of relations Federica Mogherini on Wednesday the talks could continue after Kosovo revoked the decision on the 100 percent taxes on goods from Serbia, the Beta news agency reported.

The two, according to a statement from Vucic’s office, talked by phone and also discussed the situation in the Western Balkans as a whole.

The statement said Vucic told Mogherini the dialogue was impossible while the tariffs were in place and while Pristina continued with other provocations, adding such situation was unattainable and that Kosovo's unilateral measures were dangerous to the peace and stability in the region.

Also on Wednesday, Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said the tariffs would remain in place until Belgrade recognised Kosovo.

Speaking after his cabinet session, Haradinaj said that he would never agree to revoke the tariffs despite what he said was pressure and blackmail from Serbia.

The statement from Vucic's office said he confirmed Belgrade’s readiness to resume the talks in a search for a just and sustainable solution.

The President reiterated Serbia’s commitment to necessary reforms on its European path, the statement said.

Mogherini Tweeted that the tariffs on goods from Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina "need to go" and that the talks need to resume.
