The number one tennis player in the world wins his fourth Athlete of the Year title awarded by the Laureus Academy, the Belgrade Sport Klub reported.
Djokovic left behind the soccer players Luka Modric from Croatia, Kylian Mbappe from France, NBA star Lebron James, Lewis Hamilton, the F1 champion and Elujuda Kipoche, a marathon runner.
Djokovic thus joins Usain Bolt, the fastest man in the world who also won four Laureas titles.
“Every sportsman wants the Laureus award, and it is a great honour for me. My last season was incredible, and that’s something I’ll always remember,” Djokovic said.

This sports title has been awarded since 2000, and the record-holder is Rodger Federer, a tennis player who was named the best athletes five times.
Former Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger received the award for lifetime achievement.
