The Serbian traffic police fined almost 3,000 truck and bus drivers during stepped up traffic control across the country from February 18 to 24, an Internal Affairs Ministry statement said.
Traffic police officers fined 2,708 truck drivers and 226 bus drivers during the control operation, it said and added that the stricter checks of freight carriers and buses would continue.
The ministry called the population to report technical shortcomings on buses and drivers who are exhausted or intoxicated to the Traffic Police Department.
