Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar told a UN commission in Vienna on Thursday that the Serbian authorities seized 3.9 tonnes of narcotics and arrested some 1,300 people for drug-related crimes in 2018.
He told the meeting that the Serbian government had formed a drug prevention commission which organized lectures for more than 31,000 school children, almost 5,500 teachers and 1,500 parents.
“The ministry also set up an early warning system for new psychoactive substances and has placed 15 new substances on its lists,” Loncar told the meeting of government representatives from more than 100 countries.
