The United States donated on Tuesday to Serbia’s Interior Ministry (MUP) and the Customs Administration vehicles and equipment worth 1.2 million dollars, the Beta news agency reported.
The police received six cars, a patrol boat and ballistic equipment, while the Customs got computers which had already been installed.
The US ambassador to Serbia Kyle Scott who was present at the donation ceremony said that this aid to Serbia was the continuation of the cooperation between the two countries.
“Since 2006, we donated the equipment worth some 12 million dollars,” Scott said and congratulated Serbia’s police and all MUP employees on, as he said, being on the first frontline in fighting against human trafficking and the defence of the country.”
Serbia’s Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said that “the donation will help us to be more efficient in preventing and fighting crime.”
Customs Director Milos Tomic was also present at the ceremony.
