Much of central Belgrade has been closed to traffic in preparation for President Aleksandar Vucic’s rally in front of the parliament building.
The rally, which is part of the president’s Future of Serbia campaign, is scheduled to begin at 06:00 pm on the plateau and streets in front of parliament, the president’s press service said earlier.
The Belgrade city authorities said they had closed the streets leading up to the parliament building but added that city transport services would not be disrupted with buses and trolley car lines being re-routed.
Belgrade city traffic police chief Dragan Bogosavac told the state TV (RTS) that the first groups of people coming to the rally are expected in the early afternoon. He recommended that residents of the Serbian capital should not drive in central parts of the city and finish whatever jobs they have there in the morning.
