Mayor Zoran Radojicic said there is no reason to panic, adding that he has been assured by the competent services that there is no danger of rivers flooding.

City official Darko Glavas said that the Danube’s waters have been receding and can take all the water flowing in from the Sava river.

He said only regular flood defense was needed along the Sava and added that there are no problems in the Obrenovac municipality which was severely hit by flooding in 2014.

Neighbouring Bosnia and Croatia have been hit by flooding following heavy rainfall.
