Serbian ambassador receives Japanese government order

The order is awarded for exceptional contributions to establishing and promoting bilateral and friendly relations with Japan.  

The Japanese government statement said that Filipov, a resident of Novi Sad, contributed to the strengthening of relations between the two countries as the first FRY ambassador to Japan following the democratic changes in October 2000.

Filipov held the post of ambassador in Tokyo between 2001 and 2006 and was appointed Serbia’s ambassador in Slovenia after returning from Japan. He was also a member of Vojvodina provincial government’s European Affairs Office council of experts. He also headed the Democratic Party branch in Novi Sad.
