Aleksandar Vucic, Serbia’s President, tells Prva TV the Kosovo special police unit ROSU raid in the north crosses the line his country can withstand, but also destroys the trust in any kind of partnership with the West regarding the Kosovo issue.

Commenting on NATO-led KFOR officials who stated the official Belgrade knew about the operation, Vucic said it was true, but that they did not inform him.

“They said we knew everything. True. We knew and informed the public. But when I asked them who did they inform, they said it was enough to read the newspapers,” Vucic told the TV as carried by the Beta news agency.

He added that “the Albanians and their sponsors destroyed our confidence. An incident is not a problem, the problem is the mistreatment of 28 people… The trust is crashed...”

Vucic denied he had any control over media and that he rarely followed local media which he got briefed about.

Serbia’s President said he rather watched regional television channels like Russia 24, CNN and Sky News to get adequate information about the issues from different angles.

Vucic also explained how he did not get the European Commission 2019 report on Serbia’s progress toward the European Union on Wednesday: “They wanted to bring it to me, but I had other things to do.”

He said Serbia would have been declared the most democratic country in the world if there had been progress regarding Kosovo, and added he thought that would not happen soon.
