Serbian opposition leader Dragan Djilas on Tuesday denied President Aleksandar Vucic’s claims that he owns any of the media in Serbia.

“I don’t own any of the media in Serbia and Vucic knows that full well. The problem is that he is not saying that only as my political opponent but from the position of Serbian president and he should not be lying this scandalously because of the importance of that position,” Djilas said.

He added that a number of reports by European officials and independent journalists’ organizations have shown who really controls the media in Serbia.

Djilas said he was responding to Vucic statement to a Serbian TV station that elections won’t be fair because of “the behavior of Djilas’ media”. He said that he sent a reply to the station, which he did not name, but it refused to air the reply.
