Police question Serbia's sociologist after interview with NIN weekly

Officially, the police wanted to talk to him because of the part of the interview in which he mentioned "long rifles" as a solution to the situation in Serbia.

But Bakic told NIN  "the mafia captured us," and said "I was summoned because I said that."

He said the state RTS TV "misused the interview," adding he never said he supported the opposition storming of the RTS during one of the #1in 5 million anti-government protests that had been going on for over six months every Saturday.

"I said that it was a foolish move unless they had long rifles," but he would not do that.

Vucic reacted to the interview by  invited Bakic and several opposition leaders to face him and "stop lamenting and crying in the newspapers."

"I see that Vucic wants certain duels and I'm inviting him to the 'Impression of the Week' hosted by Olja Beckovic to exchange opinions," Bakic told N1.

He said the police behaved in a civilised manner.

Milan Culibrk, the editor-in-chief of the NIN weekly, said the fact that Bakic was questioned less than 24 hours after Vucic's reaction showed the decision was brought at the executive level and that it was worrying.

"I'm afraid that we might again introduce a 'delict of opinion'," Culibrk said.
