“I only asked them to tell me where should I come to be beaten but do not threaten me and people anymore,” said Vucic, referring to the opposition leaders and representatives of the Alliance for Serbia opposition bloc Dragan Djilas, Vuk Jeremic, Bosko Obradovic and sociologist Bakic.

Vucic said he was aware that they cannot do so because they were “cowards” which he showed to the citizens.

Commenting on the opposition leaders' invitation for a TV duel in Utisak nedelje programme aired on cable TV channel Nova S, the President said he knew “they were managing certain media” but that he did not know if they were doing that with the show he was invited to.

He dismissed allegations of his visits to the places during the Future for Serbia campaign was self-promotion but the way to see the problems better because “people start to talk” when they are met.

On Saturday, the President visited the town of Boljevac within the campaign.

Jovo Bakic, a sociologist and analyst, said on Friday he believed the police summoned him for questioning following his interview with the Belgrade NIN daily in which he said that Vucic and his associates were linked to the mafia.

Vucic reacted to the interview by invited Bakic and several opposition leaders to face him and "stop lamenting and crying in the newspapers."

"I see that Vucic wants certain duels and I'm inviting him to Utisak nedelje programme hosted by Olja Beckovic to exchange opinions," Bakic told N1.
