For the second time in six years, tests for the eighth-graders in Serbia were published on the Internet a day before the students were due to take the exam,” the Beta news agency reported on Tuesday.

The mathematics test scheduled for Tuesday is postponed for two days, but in the meantime, the media said that another test, the so-called combined, planned to be taken on Wednesday, was also illegally published. That has not been confirmed.

Serbia’s Ministry of Education first said only the test was postponed, without explaining what caused the delay.

However, later in the day, Minister Mladen Sarcevic confirmed media reports that the test was leaked, adding the incident happened “in a school.”

He said his Ministry did everything by the book.

In the meantime, some opposition parties demanded Sarcevic's resignation, saying he was covering up his Ministry's responsibility for the leak.

In 2013, the then Education Minister resigned after two months from the same affair with tests, reportedly for different reasons.

“Someone opened the beg with spare tests and sold the mathematics one. We don’t know where that has happened, but the police are investigating. Some notices will follow. Everyone will have to show the begs and it will be found who had done it,” Sarcevic told the Vecernje Novosti daily.
