The Belgrade city authorities have warned people living in suburbs on the left bank of the Danube not to drink or cook the water from the city water supply system.
The city’s Beoinfo portal said the warning to the residents of Borca and Kotez had been issued as a prevention measure following recommendations by the City Public Health Department.
Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic said the water can be used for everything else and added that the warning was issued because of the large amounts of chemicals used to treat areas flooded after the heavy rains over the past few days.
The city authorities said they would deploy 25 tankers with drinking water in those two suburbs.
